Privacy at the Hall

This page explains what personal data Saengerhalle processes, why, and what you can do about it. In brief: hardly any, and none of it for adverts or profiles.

Last updated: October 2026

Who is responsible

Saengerhalle is run by the small editorial team described in The Hall and Its Writers. For anything to do with your data, write to the address on our Ring the Bell page. That inbox is the only contact channel we operate.

Plain pages, no watchers

Saengerhalle is a static website: every page is a ready-made file delivered to your browser. There are no user accounts, no comment boxes, no login and no forms that send data to us. We do not use analytics tools, advertising networks, social media plugins, tracking pixels or fingerprinting. No third party is asked to follow you around the site on our behalf.

Your cookie choice

A small card greets first-time visitors with two buttons, accept and decline. The answer goes into the local storage of your browser, which keeps the notice from popping up on each new page. That stored value stays on your device, is never sent to us and cannot identify you. You can remove it at any time by clearing the site data in your browser. More detail is on Stored Settings and Cookies.

Hosting logs

Like every website, Saengerhalle is served by a hosting provider. When your browser requests a page, the provider's servers record technical information for a short period, typically the IP address, the date and time, the page requested, the browser type and whether the request succeeded. These logs exist to deliver pages, keep the service secure and investigate faults or abuse. We do not combine them with other data or use them to identify visitors. They are deleted automatically after a short retention period set by the provider.

The legal basis for this processing is our legitimate interest in running a secure and working website (Article 6(1)(f) GDPR).

When you email us

If you write to us, we receive your email address, your name if you include it and whatever you write. We use this only to answer you and, where relevant, to correct an article. Messages are kept as long as needed to deal with your request and then deleted, unless we must keep them for legal reasons. We never add email addresses to mailing lists or pass them to anyone else. The legal basis is your request itself and our legitimate interest in answering it.

Links to other websites

Here and there, an article sends readers on to a website run by someone else. Once you follow a link, the other site's privacy rules apply, and we have no control over what it collects. It is worth reading its privacy notice before signing up anywhere, especially on gambling sites, which usually ask for identity documents.

Your rights

The GDPR and comparable laws give you the right to:

  • learn whether any of your data sits with us, and receive a copy;
  • have incorrect data corrected;
  • have your data deleted;
  • limit, or object to, processing that rests on our legitimate interests;
  • get the data you supplied in a format you can take elsewhere;
  • lodge a complaint with the data protection authority in your country.

Any of these rights can be used with a simple email to us. We will answer within one month and may ask for a little information to make sure a request really comes from you.

Changes

If the way the site works changes, for example if a new feature handles data, this page will be updated first and the date above will change.
